How To Catch Fish During Your Guided Fishing Tour

Blog

Fishing is a great way to connect with nature and your primal roots. It's also a great way to earn a delicious meal! If you have limited fishing experience, you may benefit from a guided tour instead of heading out onto the waters alone. Learn how to set yourself up for success on your fishing expedition.

Do Your Research

First and foremost, you should do your research about the fish at your destination. You should plan your trip by scheduling your tour when the fish are most active. For example, northern pike and perch are more active in winter, while catfish and trout are more active in summer. Don't forget to schedule the time of your trip wisely, as some fish are more active at dawn while others are more active during the afternoon.

Unless the tour provides gear for you, you'll need fishing poles, lures, and bait, too. Ask your guide for recommendations for gear that will perform the best on your particular trip.

Dress Comfortably

You'll be out on a boat for hours, so you'll want to be comfortable.

In the summer months, you should wear light clothes while still covering your arms and legs to protect yourself from bugs and the sun. Don't forget the sunblock and sunglasses!

In the winter months, you'll want to wear waterproof outerwear with plenty of layers.

Minimize Activity

When fishing, you should minimize activity on the water so that you don't scare the fish. Ideally, you'll pick one location and stay in place for the majority of the trip. Moving too often will stir the waters, warning the fish to stay away.

You should also minimize noise and avoid playing in the water. You shouldn't play loud music or laugh too loudly either if you want to see the best results.

Maximize Coverage

Ideally, you want to pick a place where everyone can cast their line in multiple different directions, increasing your area coverage. You should also cast slightly past your target to leave yourself a little bit of slack.

Take Advantage of the Environment

Use your hunting skills to use the resources available to you. For example, cast your line in an area that looks like a good hiding space for fish (as long as you won't damage your line). You should also use clear waters to survey the fish activity. You can use this information to make the most strategic choices. Luckily, your guide will be able to give you pointers along the way.

Enjoying Rural Life

Growing up, I absolutely adored living in the country. I liked to take long walks down the dirt road adjacent to my home. I also enjoyed collecting eggs from my grandmother’s chicken coop each day. Are you thinking about moving to a rural location? Consider taking up farming as a new hobby. To begin your agricultural adventure, you’ll likely need to invest in some necessary equipment and supplies. For example, you might wish to purchase a small tractor. You may also want to install an irrigation system on your property. On this blog, I hope you will discover the most common types of agricultural equipment and supplies small scale farmers invest in. Enjoy!
